allCLEAR Just Keeps on Going

"In 1993, I transferred to the office of Quality Management at the VA Hospital where I worked.  Our initiative at the time was educating and implementing TQI throughout the facility.  Process Improvement Teams (PIT) first need to flowchart the process, right?  The problem was that the only employees with access to flowcharting software were in Information Technology, not always available to the teams.  I saw an advertisement for allCLEAR 2.0 for $99.00.  I ordered it out of my own pocket, installed it on my home computer.  I used it to not only flowchart PIT’s focus processes, but also when I taught the flowcharting class as part of educating future facilitators of PIT’s.

In 1996, the Department of Veterans Affairs began implementing its Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) software.  I was involved in the implementation as part of the Clinical Applications Support Team.  We used my personal copy of allCLEAR 2.0 to establish a plan for 24 hour coverage of all patient care areas during installation.  This advance planning was instrumental in ensuring a smooth installation."
